The Caring Community of CT is seeking a Registered Dietitian to support adults with intellectual disabilities in a group home setting. This full-time position includes a strong fringe benefits package, including an exceptional health plan, paid time off, and retirement benefits.
The Registered Dietitian will be responsible for assessing nutritional needs, developing therapeutic diets and menus, supporting modified food consistencies, managing tube feeding needs, and providing routine staff training.
Responsibilities
- Conduct annual nutritional assessments using the nutrition care process.
- Design therapeutic diets and menus that meet state guidelines and individual needs.
- Provide medical nutrition therapy for individuals served.
- Manage tube feeding recommendations and nutritional support needs.
- Support the nutritional needs of approximately 90 consumers across 22 group homes.
- Assess weight trends and recommend appropriate interventions.
- Modify food and liquid consistencies according to NDD and IDDSI standards.
- Teach dysphagia in-service training to staff.
- Provide clear verbal and written communication to staff, supervisors, and clinical teams.
- Fill orders for habilitative equipment to support individual needs.
- Provide staff training routinely and as needed.
Qualifications
- Registered Dietitian license/certification required.
- Knowledge of modified food consistencies.
- Experience or willingness to work with adults with intellectual disabilities.
- Ability to support tube feeding needs.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Willingness to provide staff training.
Preferred education
- Bachelor's degree preferred.
